Performance Counselor for Musicians
I have been a pianist, harpsichordist, collaborative pianist and vocal coach for more than 20 years. I’m currently working with different opera companies and conservatoires in the Netherlands, such as the Dutch National Opera, Reisopera, Royal Conservatoire The Hague and others.
Since 2021 I have been transitioning into becoming a full-time professional counselor. I have obtained 4 Masters in Music from different Conservatories (St. Petersburg Conservatoire, Royal Conservatoire The Hague and Conservatorium van Amsterdam) and further graduated
from the Academy for Coaching and Counselling (ACC).
Ever since my teenage years, I have been interested in psychology and have been reading works by Freud, Jung, later Erickson, Hellinger and others.
Later on, when working with singers during coaching sessions I found myself using non-standard solutions to common problems faced by performing artists: how to overcome anxiety on stage, how to feel confident in presence of a teacher or other authorities in the field, why a coloratura passage would only work sometimes, how to be in the flow and so on.
I gradually developed my own techniques based on finding out the specific obstacles every individual musician was facing. Very often these originated in traumatic experiences from the past. Working with traumas usually isn’t pleasant, but I would always find a way to make it a positive experience and give real tools that the musician could use afterwards.
As your counselor, I will help you to recognize the patterns impairing your professional journey. I will guide you to discover your specific talents, recognize your needs and assert your personality. I use methodologies and knowledge obtained through my years of studies and practice, and tailor these to your individuality.
